Your Truck Engine Rebuilt in Auckland — Fixed Price, No Surprises

A blown engine doesn’t just cost you a repair bill. It costs you runs, contracts, and the sleep that comes with watching your schedule fall apart. At Galeeco Automotive, we’ve rebuilt diesel truck engines for Auckland operators for years — and the one thing every single customer tells us matters most isn’t the price. It’s knowing exactly what’s going to happen, when, and for how much.

That’s why every truck engine rebuild at Galeeco starts with a free diagnostic and ends with a fixed written quote before we touch a spanner.

What Is a Truck Engine Rebuild galeeco

A truck engine rebuild involves disassembling the engine, cleaning and inspecting all internal components, and replacing worn or damaged parts. We restore your engine to OEM or better-than-factory condition, improving:

Power and performance

  • Fuel efficiency
  • Engine longevity
  • Reduced oil consumption and emissions

Whether you operate a single vehicle or a commercial fleet, Galeeco has the parts, tools, and experience to get your engine rebuilt to last.

Why Auckland Truck Operators Call Galeeco First

Not every workshop that says they do engine rebuilds actually specialises in them. There’s a big difference between a general mechanic who’s pulled an engine apart a few times and a workshop where diesel engine rebuilds are the core of what the team does every single day.

At Galeeco, truck engines are our business — not a side job squeezed between warrant checks and oil changes. Our technicians work on commercial diesel engines exclusively, which means your Hino 500, your Isuzu FVZ, or your Fuso Fighter gets handled by someone who has rebuilt that exact engine configuration many times before.

Here’s what that means practically for you:

  • No guessing on parts. We know the common failure points on Auckland’s most-used truck engines and we source the right parts the first time.

  • Faster turnaround. Familiarity with the engine means less diagnostic time and fewer surprises mid-job.

  • A rebuild that actually lasts. We’ve had operators come back to us with 200,000+ km on a Galeeco rebuild still running strong.

What Happens When Your Truck Engine Comes to Galeeco

A lot of workshops give you vague timelines and call you when it’s done. We don’t work that way. Here’s exactly what happens from the moment your truck arrives:

Diagnostic & Full Teardown
Before we quote you a cent, we run a complete engine diagnostic. We want to find every failure point — not just the one that’s obvious. The engine comes fully apart, every component gets measured and inspected, and you get a written breakdown of what we found and what the rebuild involves.

Machining to OEM Tolerances
Cylinder bores, crankshafts, and cylinder heads are measured against factory spec. Anything outside tolerance gets machined or replaced. We do not reassemble around worn components — that’s how you end up back on the phone to a workshop six months later.

Quality Parts, Properly Traced
Gaskets, seals, bearings, rings, and valve train components are all replaced as standard. We use OEM or OEM-equivalent parts with documented traceability — so you know what went in, and your warranty means something.

Reassembly by the Same Technician
The same person who tore your engine down puts it back together. Every torque spec is followed. Every assembly step is documented.

Start-Up Testing & Sign-Off
Your engine gets a full run and load test before the truck leaves our yard. It doesn’t leave until it passes our sign-off checklist. That’s not a formality — it’s the last line of defence before it goes back into revenue service.

How much does a truck engine rebuild cost in Auckland?

Most truck engine rebuilds in Auckland range from $2,800 for a light diesel up to $18,000+ for a large European prime mover engine. The most common medium-duty jobs — Isuzu, Hino, and Fuso 5–7 litre engines — typically fall between $4,500 and $7,000 all-in. At Galeeco, you get a fixed written quote after an initial diagnostic, so the number you’re given is the number you pay.

At Galeeco, most truck engine rebuilds are completed in 5–10 business days. Jobs that need specialist machining or parts sourced from overseas can take up to two weeks. When we give you a timeline, we stick to it — and we’ll call you if anything changes mid-job.

In the majority of cases, rebuilding is the better financial decision. A quality engine rebuild typically costs 40–60% less than sourcing and fitting a replacement engine, and when it’s done properly, it restores the engine to factory performance or better. You also keep the original engine in your vehicle, which simplifies compliance records and can help with resale. The exception is an engine with major structural damage to the block — but that’s something we’ll tell you upfront after diagnostics, not after we’ve started work.

We rebuild diesel truck engines for Hino, Isuzu, Mitsubishi Fuso, UD Trucks, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Scania, DAF, and MAN — covering both Japanese and European commercial vehicles. If your truck isn’t on that list, call us anyway. We handle most diesel commercial engines operating in New Zealand.

Galeeco’s Mt Wellington workshop at 65 Leonard Road is our main engine rebuild facility for East Auckland. It handles full teardowns, machining, rebuilds, and testing. It’s easy to access from the Southern Motorway and handles everything from light commercials to heavy prime movers.

Yes. We work with a number of Auckland transport and logistics operators who run multiple vehicles. If you manage a fleet, contact us to discuss a fleet account and bulk rebuild pricing. We can also work with you on scheduling to minimise the impact on your operation.

Yes — and we recommend it. When an engine needs a rebuild, the DPF, EGR, turbocharger, fuel injection system, and cooling system all get a full inspection as part of the job. If any of those need attention, it makes far more sense to sort them while the engine is already apart than to do it as a separate job later. We’ll include any recommended additional work in your original quote.

Call 022 567 2249. Our Mt Roskill branch has 24/7 emergency availability. We’ll get the conversation started immediately and help you work out the fastest path to getting your truck assessed and back on the road.
