MTA Member Workshop

Galeeco Automotive is an MTA member workshop in Auckland, New Zealand, operating two workshops in Mount Wellington and Mount Roskill. MTA membership means we are bound by the MTA Code of Ethics and the MTA Customer Promise, and that our customers can access MTA’s free mediation service if a dispute ever arises. The Motor Trade Association was established in 1917 and represents more than 4,000 automotive businesses across New Zealand.
What is the MTA?
The Motor Trade Association is New Zealand’s largest automotive industry body. It was established in 1917 and today represents more than 4,000 automotive businesses that fix, fuel, buy, sell and inspect much of the country’s vehicle fleet. MTA members range from general repair workshops and service stations through to specialists in collision repair, alternative fuels and heavy diesel. The association advocates for both the industry and for motorists, and it sets standards that members must meet and maintain.
What does MTA membership mean for you?
It means there’s an independent body standing behind the service you receive, with a code we’ve agreed to be held to and a free process for sorting things out if they go wrong. As an MTA member workshop, Galeeco is bound by the MTA Code of Ethics, signs up to the MTA Customer Promise, will only carry out work you have authorised, gives you access to MTA’s free mediation service if we can’t resolve a problem between us, and has access to MTA’s industry training so our technicians stay current.
Our commitments to you as an MTA member
- We won’t touch anything you haven’t approved. If we find another fault, we stop and ring you with what we found and what it costs. You decide.
- We tell you whether you’re getting a quote or an estimate, in writing, before we start. A quote is a fixed price and we honour it.
- We explain the fault in plain language. If you want to see the worn part, we’ll show you.
- We don’t replace what can be repaired. Unnecessary replacement is how workshops lose trust.
- We stand behind our workmanship. See our Terms & Conditions for the full warranty position.
- We tell you if we can’t do something well. Some jobs belong with a specialist, and we’ll say so.
- We make repairs affordable where we can — Afterpay, Laybuy, Zip, and WINZ quotes.
MTA mediation service
MTA runs a free mediation service for customers of MTA member businesses. It exists to address customer grievances quickly, effectively and fairly — without lawyers, court, or cost to you. If you’re unhappy with a repair from an MTA member, you can contact MTA on 0508 682 633 or use the mediation form at mta.org.nz/mediation. A workshop confident in its work has no reason to hide the complaints process.
