Rotate your tyres roughly every 10,000 km, or at every second oil change. Skipping rotation is one of the most common causes of premature and uneven tyre wear, and uneven wear is also a frequent WOF failure point. We check tyre condition as part of every service at both our Mt Wellington and Mt Roskill workshops.
Pull over safely and switch the engine off as soon as you can — continuing to drive an overheating engine can cause serious and expensive damage. Do not open the radiator cap; the coolant is under pressure and will scald. Once the engine has cooled, call us on 027 734 4445 and we’ll advise whether it’s safe to drive in or needs to be towed.
Vehicles first registered anywhere in the world on or after 1 January 2000 need a WOF every 12 months. Vehicles first registered before 2000 need one every 6 months. New vehicles are issued a WOF valid for 3 years from first registration.
A Warrant of Fitness (WOF) applies to light vehicles under 3,500 kg — cars, vans and most utes. A Certificate of Fitness (COF) applies to heavy vehicles over 3,500 kg, along with taxis, rental vehicles and buses, and is required more frequently. Galeeco handles both, including COF repair work on trucks and heavy diesel vehicles.
Most vehicles need a service every 10,000 km or every 6 months, whichever comes first. Vehicles doing mostly short suburban trips, towing regularly, or running high-kilometre commutes benefit from more frequent servicing. If you’re unsure, bring your logbook in and we’ll advise based on how the vehicle is actually used.
Yes. Alongside car servicing we handle heavy diesel work including truck diagnostics, engine rebuilds, Eaton Fuller transmission rebuilds, DPF and AdBlue systems, COF repairs and fleet maintenance. Heavy vehicle work is one of our core specialisations rather than a sideline.
No. We service and repair European vehicles including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Volkswagen using manufacturer-level diagnostic equipment. Independent servicing does not void your vehicle’s warranty in New Zealand provided the work is carried out to manufacturer specification with correct parts.
Our Mt Wellington workshop at 65 Leonard Road is convenient for Sylvia Park, Penrose, Ellerslie, Onehunga, Otahuhu and Panmure. Our Mt Roskill workshop at 87 Carr Road serves Three Kings, Hillsborough, Sandringham, Blockhouse Bay, New Windsor, Balmoral, Mt Albert and Lynfield.
Yes. We accept Laybuy, Afterpay and Zip, and we work with WINZ quotes and payments. If you’d like to spread the cost of a larger repair, mention it when you book and we’ll talk through the options.
Both workshops are open Monday to Friday 8:00am–5:30pm, and Saturday 9:00am–5:00pm. We’re closed Sundays. You can book online any time, or call the hotline on 027 734 4445.
